Flannel Receiving Blanket with Crochet Edging #2

  • Flannel baby blanket
  • Crochet Hook - Size 1
  • #10 Crochet cotton thread

Add a blanket stitch to the edge of a flannel receiving blanket using #10 crochet cotton thread. If using flannel fabric rather than a finished blanket, serge around the edge first.

After the blanket stitching has been completed, start the crochet edging.

With right side of blanket facing, join thread with sl st thru any one of the blanket stitches.

Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each space made by the blanket sts, (around the entire blanket). Join with sl st to first sc.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 5, skip next 3 sc, sc in next sc*; Repeat ** around to last 3 sc, ch 2, skip last 3 sc, dc in first sc to form last loop.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop) around, ch 2, dc in first sc to form last loop

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same loop, ch 4, 2 dc in fourth ch from hook, *sc in next loop, ch 4, 2 dc in fourth ch from hook*; Repeat ** around; join with sl st to first sc.

Finish off.
